AN EXAMINATON OF FAMILY VALUES OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: THE CASE OF AFYONKARAHISAR

Özet

Üniversite gençliğinin aile değerlerini konu edinen bu çalışma, Türkiye’de ailenin yapısını ve gelecekte alacağı muhtemel formu anlamaya dönük tarama desenine dayalı nicel bir araştırmadır. Küreselleşmeyle birlikte günümüz Türkiye’sinde ailenin yapısı ve değerleri farklılaşma eğilimindedir. Özellikle son yıllarda, alternatif aile modelleri gündeme gelmiş ve tartışmaya açılmış; böylece aileye ilişkin değerlerde değişim yaşanmıştır. Söz konusu değişimin izleri çalışmada toplumun en dinamik ve dönüşümden en çok etkilenen kesimi olan üniversite gençliği üzerinden analiz edilmiştir. Aile değerleri; akraba ilişkileri, anne-çocuk ilişkisi, cinselliğe bakış, çocuğun değeri, duygusal bağ, evliliğe bakış, geleneksel aile değerleri, kadın rolleri, karar alma süreçleri, farklı yaklaşımlar, sadakat, sosyoekonomik değer, şiddet olmak üzere 13 farklı boyutta değerlendirilmiştir. 497 üniversite öğrencisi üzerinde gerçekleştirilen araştırmada öğrencilerin aile değerlerinde geleneksel eğilimlerle birlikte, gelenekselden uzaklaşan eğilimlerin de olduğu; cinsiyet, okunan bölüm, anne-baba birliktelik durumu, annenin çalışma durumunun aile değerlerinin bazı boyutlarında anlamlı farklılık oluşturduğu bulunmuştur. Çalışmada konuyla ilgili kavramsal ve kuramsal çerçeve sunulmuş, elde edilen bulgular değişim kavramı merkezinde analiz edilmiştir.

Abstract

The study that discusses the family values of the university youth is a quantitative study based on survey pattern tofind out the structure of the family and the possible forms in the future in Turkey. The family structure and valuestend to differentiate in Turkey with the process of globalization. Especially in the last years, alternative family modelshave appeared and been discussed so there has been changes in family values. In the study, the traces of thistransformation have been analyzed through the university youth that is the most dynamic and most-affected group ofthe society by it. Family values has been evaluated by thirteen different criteria: relatives, mother-child relationship,sexuality, values of children, emotional tie, marriage, traditional family values, women’s roles, decisions, alternativeapproaches, loyalty, socio-economic value and violence. In the research carried out with 497 university students hasbeen figured out that the family values of students have tendencies apart from the tradition along with the traditionalones; that it is caused remarkable differentiations in some family values by several variables such as gender, universitydepartment, parents’ marital status, and mother's working status. In the study, the conceptual and theoretical framework about the issue have been submitted; the findings obtained have been analyzed on the base of the conceptof change.
