Transition Process and Macroeconomic Structure: an Analysıs on Selected Transition Economies

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, önceden sosyalist sistemi benimsemiş, bu sistemin çökmesinden sonra piyasa ekonomisine geçiş yönünde karar almış seçilmiş ülkelerin, geçiş sürecinde ortaya koydukları makro ekonomik performansların karşılaştırılmasıdır. Ele alınan ülkelerin başlangıç koşulları ile birlikte piyasa sistemine yönelik olarak yapmış oldukları reformların, ülkeler arasında ekonomik gelişim farklılıklarına neden olduğu görülmektedir. Geçiş sürecindeki bu farklılıklara rağmen, ülkelerin yaşadıkları sorunlar, bazı ekonomik sonuçlar temelinde benzerlikler de göstermektedir. Ülkeler arasındaki bu benzerlikler, ülkelerin geçiş sürecinde izlemesi gereken aşamaları daha belirgin kılmaktadır. Bunun sonucu olarak, geçiş konusundaki literatürün oluşması kolaylaşmaktadır.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to compare the macroeconomic performances of the selected countries that have adopted the socialist system in advance and decided to switch to the market economy after the collapse of this system. It is seen that the reforms they have undertaken with respect to the market system, together with the initial conditions of the countries considered, cause economic development differences between the countries. Despite these differences in the transitional period, the problems that countries experience are also showing similarities on the basis of some economic consequences. These similarities between countries make the steps that countries need to follow in the transition process more prominent. Transition economies have shown significant progress in some macroeconomic indicators during this period.
