Abstract

In this study, the importance of the Tobin Q ratios of the enterprises operating in the food sector in Borsa Istanbul (BIST) is analyzed as financial investments. In this respect, this study gives the opportunity to the individual and institutional investors to catch the right company and to monitor the changes that have occurred over the years. In this context, data for the years 2005-2016 have been used. Before the analysis of the data, the loss values, normal distributions and the correlational movements of the data were tested. Since the data were not distributed normally, the nonparametric Wilcoxon T Test was used. As a result of the findings, a significant difference was observed between the 2008 crisis and the Tobin Q ratios during the 3-year period. There was no significant change between the other years. The results of the study are important for enterprises and financial investors in the food sector.
