Abstract
Objective: In the study, content analysis of the websites which were accessed via the keywords about vaccine hesitancy were performed for two different time periods including “before” and “after” the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). Method: In this study, Google search was performed using the “vaccine hesitancy” and “vaccine refusal” keywords which were determined according to Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) criteria. Search was done for the time periods including January 1, 2019 - June 20, 2019 and January 1, 2020 - June 20, 2020. Results: In total, 259 website content was examined in the study. 129 of the content belongs to the first term and 130 of them to the second term. No change arising from the COVID-19 influence has been determined within the content of the websites. Results were similar for the two periods and they were thought to be compatible with the current scientific literature on the vaccine hesitancy. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in the content of the websites accessed before and after COVID-19, which was the main purpose of the study. Further studies are recommended to be conducted to analyze the COVID-19 influence on the website content and to respond to both misinformation and disinformation in the content.
