Yabancı dilde deyimlerin öğretimi

Özet

Bu çalışmada İngilizce deyimlerin öğretiminde karşılaşılan güçlüklere ilişkin dilbilim temelli bir öğretim süreci seçeneği oluşturulmuş ve bu öğretim sürecinin öğrenciler üzerindeki etkisi sınanmıştır. Söz konusu süreçte deyimler anlambilimsel ve bilişsel özellikleri temel alınarak kavramlaştırılmış, bu kavramlaştırmaya göre sınıflandırılmış, sunulan öğretim süreciyle de öğrencilerde bu özelliklere ilişkin farkındalık yaratılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu yansız atama yöntemiyle deney ve kontrol grubunu oluşturan toplam 56 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada kontrol gruplu ön-test son-test deney deseni kullanılmış, elde edilenveriler tekrarlı ölçümler yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular öğretim sürecinin deney grubunda yer alan öğrencilerde olumlu öğrenme davranışları oluşturduğunu göstermiş ve öğretim sürecinin İngilizce de yimleri öğrenmeye olumlu etki eden bir değişken olarak işlediği gözlenmiştir.

Abstract

In this study, a teaching process, which aims to overcome difficulties of teaching English idioms, is put forward and its effect on students is tested. During the process, idioms were conceptualized and classified according to their semantic and cognitive properties, and the students’ awareness on these properties was raised. 56 students constituting the study group were assigned randomly and evenly as the experiment and control groups. A pre-test post-test experimental design was used. The data collected was analysed by repeated measures design. The results show that the teaching process has made the students in the experiment group develop positive learning behaviour and has operated as an effective variable on learning English idioms.
