Özet

Carotid Body Tümörü (CBT), oldukça nadir görülen, embriyolojik nöral krestten köken alan tümörlerdir. Ailesel yatkınlık söz konusudur. Tümörün yüksek rakımda yaşayanlarda daha sık görülmesinin sebebi, kronik hipoksinin bu dokunun hiperplazisine neden olmasıdır. Benign tümörlerdir.malignite nadirdir. Multisentrik olabilir ve katekolamin salgılayabilir. Cerrahisi, boyunda vasküler dokular ve kraniyal sinirlere olan komşuluğu ve ileri derecede vasküler olması nedeniyle zordur. Kliniğimize başvuran vakayı, nadir görülen olgu olması nedeniyle, literatürleri gözden geçirerek yayınlamayı uygun bulduk.

Abstract

CBT, a rarely seen tumor, takes its roots from the embryological neural crest. It is known to be genetic in nature. The reason why it is more prevalent among people living in high altitudes is that chronic hypoxia causes a hyperplasia in this tissue. They are mostly benign tumors and malignancy is seen rare. They may be multicentric and may secrete catecholamines. It is located just beside the vascular tissue in the neck and the cranial nerves, thus making surgery difficult. Because this type of case is seen rarely, we found it necessary to present it here, together with a brief literature review.
