Abstract

In this study, the purpose was to evaluate usage of pulse oximetry which is applied since 1980s' in cardiovascular surgery field for patients to be undergone vascular surgery (grafting, embolectomy) both in order to follow up circulation and to control treatment, and to compare it with anklebrachial pressure index (ABPI). For patients data regarding saturation at preoperation, after operation and first hour of postoperation and ABPI at preoperation, postoperation and first hour of postoperation was recorded. Significant changes were determined in all data. It is concluded that pulse oximetry and measurement of ABPI can be helpful in order to determine sufficiency of therapeutic interferences in early period for vascular surgery in an easy and a cheap way.
