Özet

Bu araştırma ile özel eğitime gereksinim duyan engelli çocukların ailelerinin çocuklarının eğitimi konusunda nasıl bir yol izledikleri, ailelerin çocuklarına karşı gösterdikleri tutumun,, çocuğun özür tipi açısından farklılık gösterip göstermediği ve ailelerin çocuklarına gösterdikleri tutum ile çocuğun davranışları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi, amaçianmıştır.Araştırmanın örneklemini Ankara il merkezinde ikamet eden resmi ve özel eğitim kurumlarına devam eden özel eğitime gereksinim duyan çocukların (Mental Retardasyon tartılı, Down Sendromlu, İşitme Engelli, Dil ve Konuşma Problemi olan, Serebral Palsili, Otizm ve Öğrenme Güçlüğü olan çocuklar) aileleri ile, hastanelerin genetik, pediatrik nöroloji, kulak-burun-boğaz, 'ortopedi, fizik tedavi ve rehabilitasyon vb. ilgili bölümlere başvuruda bulunan toplam 296 anne ve yedi-on iki yaş grubu çocukları oluşturmuştur.Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak "Aile Bilgi Formu" "Aile Hayatı ve Çocuk Yetiştirme Tutum Ölçeği" ile "4-18 Yaş Çocuk ve Gençlerde Davranış Değerlendirme Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Araştırma süresince annelerle bireysel görüşme yapılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre; özel eğitime gereksinim duyan çocukların annelerinin çoğunun (%47.0) koruyucu tutuma sahip olduğu bulunmuştur. Örneklemi oluşturan anneler çocuklarında en beğendikleri özellik olarak; "uyumlu ve ağırbaşlı" oluşu, kaygı duydukları özellik olarak "gelecek kaygısını" ve "okul başarısızlığım" göstermişlerdir. Annelerin, çocukların sosyal etkinliklere katılımlarının, normal gelişim gösteren yaşıtları oranında olduğunu belirtmişler, ancak annelerden alınan cevaplardan, çocuklarının katıldıkları sosyal etkinlik sayısının normal gelişim gösteren yaşıtlarından az olduğu bulunmuştur. Örneklemi oluşturan çocukların davranışları (yeterlik ve sorun davranışlar) ile çocukların tanıları arasında pozitif bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Anne tutumları ile çocuklardaki sorun davranışlar arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Bu bulgulara göre, özel eğitime gereksinim duyan çocukların annelerine psikolojik ve eğitimsel danışmanlık hizmeti yapılarak, annelerin ve diğer aile bireylerinin sorunlarına çözüm yolları artırılabilir. Annelerin çocukları hakkında daha olumlu tutum içinde olmaları sağlanabilir. Böylece çocukları ile olan iletişimleri kuvvetlenebilir, çocukların da kendilerine olan güvenleri artabilir.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to determine the methods which should be used by the families for the education of their exceptional children, the variation of the attitudes of the families towards their children with respect to the type of the disabilities, the relationship between the attitudes of the families towards their exceptional children and the behaviors of the children. This research covers the exceptional children who are living in the center of Ankara and being educated in public and private associations and diagnosed as mentally retarded, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairment, Speech and Language Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Learning Disabilities; the families and their children who have applied to the genetic, pediatric neurology, ear-nose-throat, orthopaedics, physical cure and rehabilitation departments etc. of the hospital; totally 296 mothers and the children between the age of 7-12. In the study, three dif¬ferent types of instruments were used to collect data; family knowledge form, "Parental Attitude Research Insrument", "Children Behavior Checklist for Ages/4-18 CBCL". As a result of study; mosdt of the mothers (%47.0) having exceptional child have shown protecting behavior. The mothers in the research showed that they liked mostly their children's behavior of being in harmony and being dignified but they worried about their "future" and the "unsuccessfullness in the school". The mothers in the study, stated that the contribution of their children to the activities which support their social development were not different from that of the children showing normal growing signs at the same age. However, the number of the social activities that their children contributes were less than that of the normally growing children, at the same age. A positive relation was found between the behavior of the exceptional children and their diagnosis. A significant relationship was determined between the attitudes of mothers and the social problems of their chidren. In conclusion, it is possible to increase the number of ways to find solutions to the problems of mothers and the other family members having exceptional children by providing psychological and educational consultancy. It is possible to make mothers be in more positive attitude towards their exceptional children. As a result, the communication between the mother and their children can be enhanced. In addition, the self confidence of these children can be increased.
