Abstract
Along with the developing technology, it seems necessary that the effects of computer assisted education programs on mentally retarded children should be examined as those programs can be thought to provide a permanent and effective learning. Therefore the shape concept which possesses a significant situation among mathematical concepts is considered as focus of this study. The purpose of study was to investigate the effects of computer aided education on the acquisition of shape concept by the mentally handicapped children between ages of 4-5. It was in an experimental design, and the experimental group was received pretest-training-post test but the control group was received only pretest and post-test. "Chi-Square (X2) Significance Test" was used in order to see whether there is a statistically significant difference between the pretest-post test(1)-post test(2) scores of the experimental and control groups. The statistical analysis showed that there is a statistically significant difference between cognitive processes of the experimental and the control groups (p
