Abstract

The diagnosis of many diseases has been facilitated in hospitals with the help of developing technology. In particular, the importance of the devices used in laboratories to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and their use in the laboratory is indisputable. When the diseases are thought to be related to hormones, various tests are carried out by using biochemistry hormone device. In this study, biochemistry hormone alternatives in a medical laboratory were evaluated on different criteria. A literature search was conducted to determine the criteria and interviews were conducted with experts. Market research was conducted to determine the alternatives of biochemical hormone devices and the purchasing authorities of the companies selling medical devices were interviewed. A form was then created and laboratory staff and authorized people were asked to complete the form. Criterion weights were determined by SWARA (Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis) method and five different alternative devices were listed by WSM (Weighted Sum Method) method. According to SWARA method, the most important criterion was found to be reliable blood results with 39.4182%. According to WSM method, the best alternative among 5 alternatives was determined as alternative number 2 with 0.970454 value. Then, alternatives were evaluated with another multi-criteria decision-making method, CODAS (COmbinative Distance-based Assessment), in order to test the accuracy of the decision, and the results were found to be compatible with each other. In the analysis of the data, Excel package program was used.
