Abstract

A Rare Complication of Meckel's Diverticulum: Torsion Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital ano-malia of gastrointestinal system. This generally asympto¬matic anomalia is seen in % 2 frequiency in population. Its diagnosis is made by either emergency laparatomies of its own complication or by other elective laparatomies. Bleeding, intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, umblical fistulae, imagination, peritonitis and occationally perfo¬ration are the most common complications. Moreover in same rare situations like indirect inguinal hernias, foreign bodies, neoplasm of diverticular wall and sometimes tor¬sion of the diverticulum must always be remembered as a cause of acute abdomen as a congenital malformation be¬cause of its high morbidity and mortality. Because the torsion of diverticula like in our patients is veiy rare, carrying high risk of morbidity and clinically is uncommon and surprising, we wanted this case to be in-vastigated under the light of literature.
