Abstract

Women are often as topos for german literature and in german social-culture while they have been identifiyed with Pandora in mythology, with fairy or sea-women (nympha). They are in full armour with supe-rnatural power and charm, so that they mean love and dead for man. This article treats this legendery woman type, who can be found as legends in german cultur-sociology and cults in the works of german authors Hagedorn, Brentano, Arnim, Heine, Wieland, Goethe and Wedekind.
