Three poets and the issue of relating past to the present

Özet

Bu makale günümüz edebiyatının üç önemli şairi olan Seamus Heaney, Tony Harrison, ve Carol Ann Duffy’nin şiirlerinde geçmişi geleceğe bağlama temasını ele almaktadır. Bu üç şair geçmişi geleceğe bağlama temasını şiirlerinde değisik yollar kullanarak işlemişlerdir. Seamus Heaney ve Tony Harrison kişisel tecrübelerini kullanarak daha ben merkezli bir yaklaşım kullanmı şlardır. Carol Ann Duffy ise kişisel tecrübelerini bir yana bırakmıştır. Kendi feminist ideallerini göz önünde bulundurarak şiirlerinde toplumun farklı kesimlerinden kadın tipleri üretmek suretiyle kendi ideolojine uygun bir şekilde geçmişi geleceğe bağlama temasını işlemiştir.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the theme of relating past to the present in the poetry of three major poets Seamus Heaney, Tony Harrison, and Carol Ann Duffy. These three poets relate the past to the present in different ways. Seamus Heaney and Tony Harrison prefer using their own experiences to relate the past to the present. However, Carol Ann Duffy doesn’t use her personal experiences. She is more concerned about relating past to the present with a focus on feminist ideals and other factors
