Abstract
The aim of this study is to economically evaluate the productivity of different supplemental irrigation strategies based on plant growth periods and conventional full irrigation applied for bread wheat. For that reason, findings from field research performed at Konya Soil Water and Deserting Control Research Institute in 2018-2020 crop growing season were used. The maximum yield as well as net income was obtained from conventional full irrigation treatment for irrigation doing 60% of available water capacity consumption. The highest performances among supplemental irrigations events in growth cycles being crop sensitive water stress were found in full irrigation treatment at three growth stages (total 321 mm), constant levels of 90 mm (total 270 mm), 70 mm (total 210 mm), and 50 mm (total 150 mm) in each growth stage. In examined indicators relevant to the irrigation productivity, particularly for water shortage environments such as Konya plain, optimal yield and net income can be obtained from deficit supplemental irrigation treatment application at wider areas instead of full irrigation practice. By this way, it is possible to save 25% and 42% irrigation water amount without resulting yield and net income reduction at wheat farming.
