Özet

Bu çalışmada Cumhuriyet döneminde, 1926-1956 yılları arasında Urfa’da öğretmenlik yapan İhsan Özdemir’in yaşamı ve yapmış olduğu çalışmalar araştırılmıştır. Araştırmayı geliştirecek kaynaklara ulaşılmış ve oğlu Coşkun Özdemir’in vermiş olduğu bilgiler ile çalışma desteklenmiştir. Tiyatro, spor, folklor, sosyal yardım ve eğitim etkinlikleri gibi birçok alanda aktif rol oynamış olan İhsan Özdemir, çalışma yaşamında çocukların eğitimine önem verdiği kadar yaptığı etkinliklerle dikkatleri üzerine çekmiştir. Bir yandan öğretmenlerin mesleki ialanda geliştirilmesi için çalışmalar sürdürmüş; bir yandan da yapılan çeşitli etkinlikler ile çocukların gelişim süreçlerine uygun yetişmelerine katkı sağlamıştır. Dönemin ekonomik sıkıntılarına rağmen yaptığı çalışmalar ile İhsan Özdemir’in Urfa’da sosyo-kültürel ve sosyoekonomik yaşamın canlanmasına katkı sağladığı net bir şekilde görülmektedir.

Abstract

This study investigated the life and the work of İhsan Özdemir, who taught in Urfa during the Republic Period between 1926-1956. The resources that would develop and support the study were reached via his son, Coşkun Özdemir who provided information. İhsan Özdemir, who played an active role in many areas like theatre, sports, folklore, social aid and educational activities, drew attention with not only the importance he attached to the education of children, but also his activities throughout his working life. He worked for the development of teachers in the profession on one hand and contributed to the training of children according to their developmental periods with the help of activities on the other. Despite the financial difficulties of that era, İhsan Özdemir definitely made a great contribution to the revival of the socio-cultural and socio-economoc life of Urfa with his work.
