Abstract
Many scholars, social scientists and politicians have expressed their thoughts on the meaning and definition of nationalism, its thoughtful development is almost parallel with its practical development. The contributions made to the concept of nationalism have not only affected the development of the concept positively, but also cannot prevent the concept from becoming indefinite. The ambiguity of nationalism is both a part of its own historical process and a result of other theories and practices that develop outside of that term. In the development process of nationalism, concepts such as nation, ethnicity, race and religion have accompanied with him. At the same time, scientists who produced modernist, primordialist, ethno-symbolist, and prennialist theories contributed to nationalism. As a result, with the influence of related concepts and theories nationalism was enriched intellectually on one side and conceptually uncertain on the other.
