Bumakalede, Mondros Mütarekesi sonrası Türk basınının İstanbul’a yönelik çeşitlitaleplere itirazları ve konuyla ilgili tartışmaların gerekçeleri incelenmeyeçalışılacaktır.
Abstract
During the First World War, one of the main goals of the Entente States was to seize and to end the Turkish rule in Istanbul. However, in the secret agreements they made among themselves, they could not clarify the issue of how the administration of Istanbul would be. This uncertainty continued after the occupation of Istanbul after the Mudros Armistice. As well as discussions among Allies, the Ottoman Rums and Greece made demands on Istanbul. The Istanbul Rum press was publishing that Istanbul should unite with Greece, or that the city should be left to the Rums. Greek Prime Minister Venizelos was also trying to make decisions that would allow Istanbul to be left to Greece at the peace conference. However, he could not find the support he expected from the allies. The Istanbul Turkish press, on the other hand, argued that Istanbul should continue to remain in the Turkish administration by objecting to the demands of the Rums. The Turkish press, which could not make harsh publications against the allies due to the conditions of the period, could only defend the continuation of the Turkish administration in Istanbul by objecting to the Rum demands. Therefore, the criticism of the Turkish press included not only the demands of the Rums but also other projects that would remove Istanbul from the Turkish administration. In this article, the objections of the Turkish press to various demands regarding Istanbul after the Mudros Armistice and the reasons for the discussions on the subject will be examined.
