THE EFFECTS OF FOOD-RELATED MOTIVATION, LOCAL FOOD INVOLVEMENT, AND FOOD SATISFACTION ON DESTINATION LOYALTY: THE CASE OF ANGELES CITY, PHILIPPINES

Abstract
The paper examines the effect of local food on loyalty of touristson a destination. The participants were identified usingpurposive method of sampling and these respondents comprisedof local and foreign tourists who have visited Angeles City. Theresearch design used was predictive-correlational method andpartial least squares path modelling was utilized to gauge theparameter estimates. The results showed that food-relatedmotivation positively affects local food involvement, destinationloyalty, and food satisfaction. It was also found out that localfood involvement is significantly and positively related to foodsatisfaction and destination loyalty. Moreover, relationshipbetween food satisfaction and destination loyalty was found to besignificant and positive. The mediation analysis revealed thatfood satisfaction is a mediator on the link between food-relatedmotivation and destination loyalty and between local foodinvolvement and destination loyalty.
