Abstract
In this study, the volcano-sedimentary sequence (Salbaş Tuffite Member of Kuzgun Formation) cropped in the Fadıl (Northern Adana) region, which is seen as an important tuffite deposit in the late Miocene sediments exposed in the Adana Basin and overlying clastic sequence of the Memişli Member was studied paleontologically. In this sequence, ostracods such as Cyprideis seminulum, C. anatolica, Cyprideis torosa, Cyprideis sohni, Cyprideis pannonica, an alga (Chara sp.) and a fish otolith distinguished. Micro-gastropoda genera and species such as Cytherella glypta, Cyprideis anatolica, Miocyprideis sarmatica, Cyamocytheridea meniscus, Loxoconcha sp., Xestoleberis communis, Xestoleberis margaritae were distinguished in the Memişli member. We have concluded that these ostracods genera and species characterize a lagoon environment for the Tuffite Member and the shallow marine (epineritic) environment in the Memişli Member. These identified species also detaily compared with lagoon and shallow-sea late Miocene ostracod and micro gastropoda species in other studies conducted in AntalyaMut-Adana Neogene basins and similar basins in Europa.
