Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between stock market index and macroeconomic indicators. In this context, monthly data including covering 50 countries are tested by using Panel Data Analysis. The countries separated into three groups as developed, developing and less developed countries have been analyzed. In this study, stock market indices of countries and the macroeconomic variables including inflation, industrial production index, exchange rate, interest rate (short term), money supply (M2) have been used. As a result of the panel causality test, it is determined that there is bi-directional causality relationship between stock market index and some of macroeconomics variables in both developed and developing countries. In less developed countries, there is bi-directional causality between stock market and interest rate; there is unidirectional causality between stock market and industrial production index and money supply. It is determined that there isn’t a causality relationship between stock market and exchange rate
