Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the whole world since the end of 2019 and has necessa rily changed almost all aspects of social life. One such aspect is education. With the pandemic, schools of all kinds have temporarily closed and a fast change took place towards distance le arning models based on knowledge-information technologies. Students' experience of distance learning is dependent on a variety of factors such as class, sex, race/ethnicity, migration, disa bility, and location. These factors not only strengthen the need for necessary knowledge and technology to access distance learning, but also deepend the inequalities bred by the neoliberal capitalist system in education. This study looks at how students have experienced this process by focusing on the experiences of the students of Batman University. A survey was made encom passing of 1250 students. This survey took into account the socio-economic status of students, as well as their locations, to picture their experience of distance learning. The conclusion suggests that students have largely been negatively effected by this process and that differences in socio economic status and location have deepened already existing inequalities.
