Abstract

The calculations of coil capacity used for air conditioning and cooling, and selection of the convenient equipment are affective to the performance of a system. The cooling capacity of a coil is subjected to cross sectional area of air flow, velocity of air, temperature of cooling fluid, diameter of pipe, pipe sequence number, winglet structure and distances, etc. Cooling capacity depends on various variables and it includes heat convection problems make calculations hard. In this study, a coil selection table, which comprises different variables of cross sectional area of air flow, pipe sequence number and velocity of air, were employed for training of a ANN. The network has three input and three output layers. In the hidden layers, the number of 6, 8, 10 and 13 layers were experimented. The training were carried out until the square error reaches $varepsilonleq 0,0001$. The network with 6 and 8 layers were not able to stay under the accepted error. The network with 10 and 13 were able to prove the error and this training were carried out the data in the table that were not used in training. In the results of tests, the mean relative errors were appeared to be small and it shows that the ANN can be successfully used in this area.
