Abstract

Contrary to their simple and casual physical appearances, the patterns of reli- gious rituals are complex. They are designed to arouse profound feelings in hu- man conscience. Of these, pilgrimage is the one that reflects the human’s reach out for the sacred in a finest and most symbolic way. Even though journeying to sacred places almost entirely lost its meaning presently, because of advanced technology transportation vehicles; the pilgrimage journeys of the Lamaists today and Ibrahim Bin Adham’s in the past, although they are from different religions, remind us of this meaning again.
