Sefepimin indiiklenebilir beta-laktamaz (IBL) salgıladığı gösterilebilen Pseudomonas aeruginosa suşlarına in-vitro etkinliğinin E test yöntemiyle araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Ocak 2003-Ocak 2004 tarihleri arasında izole edilen 36 P.aeruginosa susu incelenmiştir. AmpC beta-laktamaz üretimi disk antagonizm yöntemi ile direkt indüksiyon yapılarak belirlenmiştir. Sefepim duyarlılığı E test yöntemi ile saptanmıştır. Üç susun sefepime orta duyarlı olduğu bulunmuş, sefepime dirençli suş saptanmamıştır. Çalışmamızın sonuçlarına göre sefepim IBL üreten P.aeruginosa suşlarına karşı etkin bir antibiyotiktir.
Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of cefepime against inducible beta-lactamase (IBL) production proved P.aeruginosa strains. During January 2003-January 2004, a total of 36 P. aeruginosa isolates were analyzed. AmpC beta-lactamases were detected by the disk antagonism method. The susceptibilities to cefepime were determined by the E test method. Although there was no resistance to cefepime, three isolates showed intermediate resistance. The results of the study indicated that cefepime is an effective antimicrobial agent against IBL producing P. aeruginosa strains.
