Modern Bütünleşmeden Postmodern Farklılaşmaya Kentte Toplumsal Etkileşim

Özet

Bu çalışmada, tarihsel gelişim içerisinde kent ve kentsel yaşamın modern ve postmodern durumu ele alınmıştır. Günümüz gelişmeleri açısından kent ve kentleşme, bütün dünyada modernliğin en önemli toplumsal görünümlerinden biri olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Ancak, kent ve kentsel yaşamda meydana gelen günümüz gelişmeleri, postmodern düşünceden de etkilenmektedir. Bu perspektifte konu, iki ana bölümde incelenmiştir. Birinci bölümde modernlikle kent ilişkisini, kentsel yaşamdaki toplumsal bütünleşme ve modern kentin sıkıntıları çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise postmodernlikle kent ilişkisini, toplumsal farklılaşma ve üzerinde yapılan tartışmalar çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Sonuçta ise modernliğin kentsel yaşamda yol açtığı krizlerin postmodern yaklaşımla çözülmeye çalışıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanında postmodern düşüncenin yoğun olarak odaklandığı alanın kent olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Abstract

This study deals with the modern and postmodern condition of city and urban life in the historical process. Urbanization has been regarded as the most important social manifestation of the modernity. However, the recent developments in the cities and urban life are under the influence of postmodern approach. With respect to this duality, the subject matter is examined in two main parts. In the first part, the relation between modernity and city is discussed with reference to the social integration in urban life, and to the crisis of the modern city. In the second part, the relation between postmodemity and city is explored by referring recent debates on social differentiation. In the conclusion,it is pointed out that the crisis in urban life caused by modernity is tried to be resolved through postmodern urban imagination.
