Abstract
Objective: This study was planned as a descriptive one seeking to examine the level of mother -child bonding in pregnancies occurring after infertility treatment. Methodology: The universe of the survey consisted of all women inpatients in tube baby and obstetrics clinic who became pregnant after infertility treatment. In other words there was no sample selection. The survey covered 133 women who became pregnant after infertility treatment, without any other living child, without any anomaly in foetus and any psychiatric diagnosis, capable of communicating and accepted to take part in the survey. “Pregnant Information Form” and “Prenatal Bonding Inventory” (PBE) were used in collecting data. The SPSS 21.0 programme was used in data analysis accompanied by percentage and average distributions for descriptive analyses of student’s ttest, one-way Anova test and Bonferroni test for comparisons. Findings: It is found that there is statistically significant difference between pregnant women’s average PBE scores and pregnancy trimesters which derives from pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. Conclusion: It is concluded that the number of foetuses in pregnant women does not affect the level of bonding and average prenatal bonding scores tend to fall as weeks in pregnancy increases.
