Abstract

Combination of Electrohydraulic Lithotripsy With Transurethral Prostatectomy in the Treatment of Benign Proştatic Hyperplasia Complicated With Bladder Stones- The efficacy of sequential use of electrohydraulic lithotripsy and transurethral prostatectomy (TUR-P) zvas investigated in 12 cases zvith benign proştatic hyperplasia complicated zvith bladder stones. in 11 patients zuho had calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate and struvite stones complete disintegration and stone clearance ıvere achieved in one session and this treatment had no impact on TUR-P application. Lithotripsy caused a mean increase of14 minutes in operation time İn one patient zvith uric acid stones, residual fragments af ter the initial lithotripsy session and TUR-P caused acute urinary retention and necessitated a second session of lithotripsy. The combination of electrohydraulic lithotripsy and TUR-P in patients zvith benign proştatic hyperplasia complicated zvith bladder stones appears as an effective and saf e method of treatment.
