Abstract

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) Results ofTıvo Centers-The outcome of 637 patients treated ıvith the spark gap lithotripter Multimed 9200 in two centers are presented. This study included patients ıvhose treatments ıvere completed betıveen August 1994 and January 1996. There zvas solitary stones in 512 patients and multiple stones in 125. The multiple stones ıvere localized in 304 different regions. The overall stone free rates ıvere % 95for stones smaller than 2 cm2 and 75 % for those larger than 2 cm2. Bilateral ureteral obstructions ıvere relieved by double-J stent placement in 2 cases. The other complications ıvere noted as perirenal hematoma in 1 patient, urosepsis in another and stone-street formation in 18 patients. Stone streets ıvere treated by ESWL to the most distalfragment. Our results suggest that the Turkish lithotripter Multimed 9200 has comparable effkacy ıvith itsforeign counterparts in ali stone localizations.
