Mental status after transurethral resection in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia

Özet

Transüretral prostat rezeksiyonu uygulanan hastalarda postoperatif dönemde organik kökenli geçici mental bozukluk olup olmadığı araştırıldı. Otuz iki hastaya operasyondan 24 saat önce ve postoperatif dönemde 24 ve 72'nci saatlerde kısa kognitif muayene (KKM) uygulandı. KKM skorlarında cerrahiden sonra önemli bir değişiklik olmadığı saptandı. Preoperatif sağlık durumunun, uygulanan anestezi yönteminin, operasyon süresinin, preoperatif ve postoperatif hematolojik ve kan biyokimyası sonuçlarının kognitif muayene skorlarını etkilemediği gözlendi.

Abstract

Mental Status After Transurethral Resection in Patients With Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia- In an effort to evaluate the hypothetical association between transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and postoperative transient organic mental disorders cognitive functions of 32 patients who underwent transurethral resection of prostate were examined. Mini-cognitive examination (MCE) was applied to the patients 24 hours before TURP and the examination luas repeated 24 and 72 hours after surgery. No significant deterioration occurred in MCE scores after surgery. Preoperative health status, choice of anesthesia, operation time, results of haematologic and blood chemistry analyses had no effect on the MCE scores.
