Abstract
In order to compare power Doppler Sonography with color Doppler sonography in the evaluation oftesticular blood flow in adults, 62 testes in 31 healthy subjects were studied with color Doppler and power Doppler sonography and the number of intratesticular vessels per square centimeter of the testicular parenchyma was calculated. Although both techniques demonstrated blood flow in all testes, power Doppler sonography depicted more vessels than did color Doppler sonography in 27 (% 43.5) testes. The mean number of vessels detected with power Doppler sonography (3.55±0.74) was significantly higher than those discriminated with color Doppler sonography (2.91±0.47). Both techniques showed no difference between the blood flow of the right and the left testes of the same subjects. Power Doppler sonography appears to be more sensitive than color Doppler sonography in the evaluation of intratesticular blood flow.
