Abstract
Objective: To detect frequencies and types of sexual function disorders in Turkish men. Methods: Six hundred three men (mean age, 39.1+0.6 years) were included. The participants were questioned about erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and loss of sexual desire. In addition, the age of first coital activity, body height and weight, history of smoking and alcohol consumption and diabetes mellitus were also recorded. Results: Premature ejaculation was the most frequent (36.5%) sexual function disorder. The incidences of erectile dysfunction and loss of sexual desire were found to be 13.4% (81 men) and 14.4% (87 men), respectively. Of 603 men, 272 reported at least one sexual f unction disorder. There was no correlation between sexual function disorders and the patient characteristics other than age. Conclusion: Sexual function disorders appear to be common in the Turkish male population. It is very important to be aware of the incidences of these particular problems in this country. The physicians should feel responsible to ask for sexual function disorders regardless of the patients' presenting complaints.
