Abstract
Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is an uncommon disease that affects women in the last month of pregnancy or within the first five months after delivery. The cause of PPCM remains unknown. It is associated with high mortality (range from 25 to 50%). In this case report we discussed the case of a 29-year-old woman who had suffered from shortness of breath and palpitation in week 36 of her pregnancy. Echocardio-graphy was done which revealed severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction and a diagnosis of PPCM was made. PPCM should be in the differential diagnosis of any woman in the late pregnancy or in the early postpartum period that presents with shortness of breath.
