Lacan’a göre bilinçdışı her şeyden önce dilseldir.

Abstract

While Jacques Lacan builds his theory of psychoanalysis on unconscious, linguistic and philosophical relations, he refers to writers such as Joyce, Mallarme, and Rimbaud. In fact, by conducting a psychoanalytic study of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Purloined Letter”, he tries to show some of his theorems of his theory on the literary work, while also confirming Freud. Because, Freud, before him, discovered that the poets and philosophers have discovered the unconscious, and that only the scientific method will allow the study of the unconscious. Lacan, unlike Freud, does not accept the unconscious as primitive and instinctive. According to Lacan, the unconscious is primarily linguistic. It is structured like a language. However, it is grasped only when it is explained, spoken. In the Lacanian psychoanalysis theory, as in the theory of structural linguistics, the relationship between language and structural features is shown in the center. Lacan brings out the protagonist to interpret or make sense of the unconscious. He describes the unconscious as a discourse. The unconscious is the discourse of the Other. He points out that we can see the effects of the unconscious word on the subject. At this point, he argues that the unconscious is the result of the effects on the subject. Therefore, Lacan focuses on the signifier. For this reason, Lacanian psychoanalytic theory has an important role in contemporary literary criticism. This article emphasizes the relation between Lacanian psychoanalytic theory and language and literature; and departing from this point literary works are analyzed according to Lacanian psychoanalytical theory.
