Özet
1920lerin başından itibaren tapestrynin resimsel anlatımında değişiklikler olmuş, gerçekçi resimlemelerden soyut-geomet- rik desenlere geçiş yaşanmıştır. Bunun ilk çağdaş örneklerinin görüldüğü yer ise Bauhaus Okuludur. Bauhausun kapatılma- sıyla birlikte Avrupada tapestry dokumacılığında başlayan yenilikçi düşünceler Amerika Birleşik Devletlerine taşınmıştır. Burada ikinci nesil tekstil sanatçıları yetişirken, Avrupada Jean Lurçatın Fransadaki Aubusson ve Gobelin atölyelerinde yenilikçi yaklaşımlar yakalama çabaları ve Doğu Avrupalı sanatçıların malzeme ve tekniği doku, şekil, formla ilgi çekici şekil- de buluşturması üç boyutlu lif sanatı çalışmalarının önünü açmıştır. Doğu Avrupada Polonyalı sanatçı Magdalena Abakanowiczle birlikte lif sanatında öncü çalışmalar yapan sanatçılardan birisi de Jagoda Buictir. Bu makale, tapestry den lif sanatına geçiş sürecinin kilometre taşlarını tarihsel sıralamayla değerlendirmeyi ve lif sanatında üç boyutlu formları Jagoda Buicin çalışmaları ışığında incelemeyi amaçlar. Makalede ayrıca, el sanatı üretiminden güç alan tapestry sanatının, modern sanat kavramıyla bütünleşmesi ve plastic sanatlarda evrensel bir anlatıma ulaşması vurgulanmaktadır.
Abstract
From the beginning of 1920s, there has been changes in the pictorial expression of tapestry; and, a transition from rea- listic illustrations to abstract-geometrical patterns has occurred. The first modern examples of this were executed at the Bauhaus School. With the closure of Bauhaus, innovative ideas, which have begun to take shape in tapestry weaving in Europe, were moved to America. While second generation textile artists were brought up in America, Jean Lurcats efforts to achieve innovative approaches at the ateliers of Aubusson and Gobelin in France, and Eastern European artists interesting combination of material and technique with texture, shape and form, have led the way to the art of three dimensional fiber works. Jagoda Buic is one of the artists who has been producing epochal works in fiber arts like the Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz in Eastern Europe. This paper aims to evaluate the milestones of transition from tapestry to fiber art in chronological order, and to exa- mine the three dimensional fiber art forms in the light of Jagoda Buics works. The artists works are evaluated along with the contributions of her contemporaries to the art of tapestry. The integration of tapestry art, which takes its roots from craftsmanship, with modern art concepts, and its accession to universal expression within plastic arts are also stressed.
