Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The research was carried out methodically in order to develop a scale to assess attitudes in organization against change. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Sought to have at least one year of experience in their present institutions, 294 nurses and physicians from all services of a private and a public hospital chosen by random sampling formed the sample (205 nurses, 89 physicians). Having the Cronbach alpha value of a= .92 and r= .92, Attitude Against Change Scale (AACS), was used in data collection. The data were analyzed the using by t-test for dependent groups, the pearson product moment correlation analysis, factor analysis and Cronbach Alpha coefficient. RESULTS: Attitude Against Change Scale was viewed by experts for its content validity, and its inner coherence coefficient was a = .92, test-retest result was t= 1.864 and item total score correlation was r= .35- .71. As the result of the factor analysis, the scale was divided into four sub-dimensions: institutional policy in change, change outcomes, resistance to change and management style in change. CONCLUSION: The Attitude Against Change Scale (AACS) was found that it was a highly valid and reliable measurement tool in nurses and physicians.
