Abstract
In this investigation, it was planned to determination the effect of toxoplasmosis that detected by IFAT, on some haematological and biochemical parameters in male German Shepherd Dogs, Pointers and Turkish Shepherd Dogs. For this purpose, the blood samples were taken from V. jugularis at 8 German Shepherd Dogs, 9 Pointers and 7 Turkish Shepherd Dogs found to be seronegative and 7 German Shepherd Dogs, 8 Pointers and 6 Turkish Shepherd Dogs found to be seropositive on the basis of IFAT results. The haematological values and the serum levels of some blood metabolites were measured in the blood samples. It was determined that lymphocyte counts were increased in all of the seropositive animals. In addition, the red blood cell count and haematocrit values of the seropositive German Shepherd Dogs were lower than same parameters of the seronegative German Shepherd .Dogs. The similar decrease of red blood cell count of the seropositive Turkish Shepherd Dogs has also been observed. On the other hand, it was found that creatine kinase activity in blood serum was increased in the seropositive Pointers , when compared to the seronegative Pointers.
