Özet

Kan gruplarının bilinmesi, modem at yetiştiriciliğinde önemli bir yer tutar.

Abstract

The blood groups have important applications in modern horse breeding. There are 8 different horse blood group systems, which are named A, C, D, K, P, Q, U and T. Within each blood group system, there are allelic factors responsible for expression of red blood cell antigens. Neonatal isoerythrolysis is a blood group incompatibility disease in which the foal's red blood cells are destroyed by antibodies absorbed from the mare's colostrums. Specifically, Aa and Qa antigens cause the most severe immunologic reactions. Clinical signs in affected foal are anemia and associated complications. It is preventable with an understanding of the pathogenesis of NI. Prevention of neonatal isoerythrolysis can be divided into prebreeding and postbreeding strategies. In regards to blood type, incompatible mating should be prevented by routine blood typing of the mare and stallion. Foals at risk must be prevented nursing the dam's colostrums including anti-blood red cell antibody.
