Özet
Bu araştırma, ratlarda ilk çiftleşme yaşının, bir doğumdaki yavru sayısı ve süt kesimi yavru sayısına etkisini belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın canlı materyalini 30 adet Sprague Dawley soyu rat oluşturmuştur. Birinci grup hayvanlar ortalama 2.5 aylık, ikinci grup hayvanlar ise 3.5 aylık yaşta çiftleştirilmiştir. Araştı/ma bir yıl sürmüş ve gruplarda ilk beş doğum sonuçları incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonunda, bir doğumdaki ortalama yavru sayısı gruplarda sırası ile 9.42 ± 0.69 ve 9.45 + 0.34 olarak bulunurken, süt kesimi ortalama yavru sayısı sırası ile 8.41 + 0.39 ve 7.95 ± 0.46 olarak belirlenmiştir. Ratlarda ilk çiftleşme yaşının iyi bakım yönetim şartlarında 2.5 ay ve daha erken yaşlara çekilebileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
Abstract
The purpose of-this experiment was to examine the effect of the first mating age on the average litter size .at birth and weaning of rats. Thirty female Sprague Dawley rats were used in this study. The ages of animals in the time of first mating were 10 weeks for the first group and 14 weeks for the second group. The experiment was carried out for one year and only the first five births were taken into consideration. Average litter size at birth were 9.42 and 9.45 , and average litter size at weaning were 8.41 and 7.95 for the groups, respectively. It was concluded that the first mating age of the rats could be earlier than 2.5 months of age under good management conditions.
