Abstract
Bovine rotavirus (BRV) ve bovine coronavirus (BCV) are the major causes of neonatal calf diarrhea. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of BRV and BCV in faecal samples from diarrhoeic calves. For this purpose, faecal samples collected from 89 calves with diarrhea in Van province were tested using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) technique for the presence of BRV and using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit for BCV. In conclusion, out of the 89 diarrhoeic calves, 16 (17.97%) were found to be positive for rotavirus and only 1 (1.12%) for coronavirus. These findings provide evidence for BRV and BCV in aetiology of neonatal calf diarrhea cases.
