Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between hypergender ideology and perception of fatherhood role among male students attending to university. 74 male students attending to Near East Psychology Department participated in this study. The participants were administered Individual Information Form, Fatherhood Role Perception Scale (FRSC) and Hypergender Ideology Scale (HGIS), in the same order. When the correlation between HGIS and FRSC scores is examined by using Pearson correlation method, a statistically significant (p‹0.01) , medium and negative correlation (r= -0,412) was found. As a result, it is argued that the more the fatherhood perception increases, the more the fathers take domestic responsibilities and the more their hypergender ideology reduce. It is also argued that an examination of the relationship between hypergender ideology and fatherhood concepts, may throw a freshlight on the recent changes as with the gender roles.
