Abstract
In this study, recovery of gold from massive sulphide Cu-Au ore from Black Sea region was aimed by using gravity concentration methods. Falcon concentrator and shaking table were used in gravity the studies. According to MLA results (Mineral Liberation Analyser),Cu-Au ore is composed mostly of pyrite/marcasite, barite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and quartz minerals. It has been determined that gold occurs in Au-Ag alloy form (electrum) in coarser sizes and native form in finer sizes. The gold-bearing minerals were generally seen in pyrite/marcasite. Falcon concentrator tests were carried out on samples taken from different streams of the Cu-Au concentrator. In order to increase the gold grade of Falcon concentrates further, shaking table was used for final gold concentrate. The tests were conducted at three different G forces with Falcon. As the gold recovery improves with increasing G force increases but this results in a decrease in concentrate grade. As a result of the experimental studies, the concentrates from cyclone feed, cyclone underflow and secondary mill discharge were obtained with the grades and recoveries such as 255.75 ppm Au and 7.37%, 168.80 ppm Au and 12.32%, 267.90 ppm Au and 12.44% respectively. After six months, the test on the secondary ball mill discharge was repeated to determine whether the previous result was reproducible. Fortunately, a compatible result in terms of the gold grade and recovery was obtained being 306.00 ppm Au and 8.94% recovery.
