Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the founding values and principles of the state in Osmancık novel. This determination includes the analysis processes of the state, Ottoman-Seljuk relationship, lineage, political legitimacy, social movements, knowledge sources, religion-politics relationship, economic structure and relations, social order, spreading policy, tolerance. In the novel, a Turkish-Islamic identity is built over the foundation story of the Ottoman Empire, and the Ottoman identity is constructed within the framework of the modern Turkish-Islamic ideology. Tarık Buğra draws a portrait of Turkism, who is ontologically committed to supreme ideals such as Islam and universal values. When the emphasises and the upper fiction are observed, it can be seen that the latter component of the Turkish-Islamic identity remain weak in the novel.
