Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the effects of different litter materials on the production traits of broilers and litter moisture. Woodshaving, rice husk and wheat straw which are widely used at poultry production and their 50% mixtures with zeolyte were used as litter material. It was de-termined that effect of litter material was important with respect to live weight gains at different stages of fattening period (P< 0.01). The highest live weight gain 6 wk of age were found of wheat straw, wheat straw+zeolyt groups, whereas the lowest were found at the groups at rice husk, rice husk +zeolyte. It was determined that the zeolyte addition to the litter materials has not a significant effect on live weight gains. The best feed conversion ratios were determined at wheat straw, wheat straw+zeolyt groups, while worse the were observed at rice husk rice husk+zeolyte groups (P<0.01). The best feed convertion ratios were determined at wheat straw, wheat straw+zeolyte groups, while the worst were observed at rice husk and rice husk+zeolyte groups (P< 0.01).At the end of the trial the differences between the viability of groups were found significant with Khi-square analyses (P< 0.05). The litter moisture values obtained in the groups during trial period were generally below 40%. There were effect of zeolyte supplementation was not determined on the reduction of litter moisture level.
