Abstract

One of the most important issues in cost accounting is to determine the joint product and by-product costs in the production process. In this study IAS 2 the adopted method to determine the joint and byproducts cost is examined. In IAS 2 in determining the joint products costs, at first the costs of conversion of product separately identifiable, when the costs of conversion of each product are not seperately identifiable, they are allocated between to products on a rational and consistent basis. But it is not mentioned about the which method should be according to used. However there is not projection of a standard method "the relative sales value" is suggested. In the sense of by-products, due to their structure they should be determined according to "net realisable value " method and the amount will be substracted from the main product costs.
