Abstract
Type I diabetes mellitus has an autoimmune base thus it can be diagnosed along with the other autoimmune diseases. In this study we assessed the thyroid autoimmune antibodies and AKA prevalence and their relations with the complications of diabetes. Evaluated parameters obtained from the 16 female and 4 male totally 20 patients were; the blood chemistry, HbA1c, HLADR3, HLADR4, anti-GAD, AiA, anti-T, anti-M, AKA IgG, AKA IgM. Among these 20 patients evaluated; AiA 40%, anti-GAD 15%, HLADR3 25%, HLADR4 30%, anti-T anti-M 20%, AKA IgM 30%, AKA IgG 5% were positive. The mean ratio of the HgA1c was 10.94.Neither the HLA system nor the AKA had been assessed to relate with the thyroid autoantibodies. Similarly AKA and thyroid autoantibodies were not assessed to relate with diabetic complications. Thyroid autoantibodies and AKA prevalence was assessed to be higher positive compared to the normal population.
