Bulgular: Katılımcıların %39,8’i bazen idrar kaçırdığını belirtmiştir.

Abstract

Aim: Urinary incontinence is a disease that is often seen in society, but is not often the subject of complaints, unless it reaches very advanced dimensions and cannot be expressed easily. For this reason, it is important that the physician who sees the person first make an assessment about urinary incontinence in terms of the disease not to be overlooked and the treatment not to be delayed. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of urinary incontinence in adults enrolled in a family health center and to investigate the effect of this condition on quality of life.Materials and Methods: 322 people aged 40 and over registered with Antalya Yeşilyayla ASM participated in the study. Participants were determined by stratified sampling method according to age groups. WHOQOL-Bref scale and ICIQ-SF scale were used in the research. Results: 39.8% of the participants stated that they sometimes missed urine. However, 73.6% of the participants never went to the doctor for a urinary incontinence complaint. The study also found a negative correlation between urinary incontinence and quality of life (r=- 0.240; p<0.001). Conclusion: The results of the research show that the frequency of urinary incontinence is high in society and has a negative impact on quality of life. However, for this reason, the frequency of applying to a doctor is very low. In other words, many patients whose quality of life is falling due to urinary incontinence do not receive health care.
