Abstract

In this study the heat transfer and pressure loses were investigated in a heat exchanger with concentric double tubes and with a snail type swirl flow generator at the entrance of the inner pipe. The fluid was swirled at the entrance of the inner tube and then left to free movement. Multi-point swirl flow left the inner tube without decaying due to the service conditions with high Re numbers. In this study, the experiments were carried out with and without swirl flow of the air inside the inner tube and the results were compared. As a result it was determined that the heat transfer in swirl flow case was higher than the flow without swirl and the pressure loses increased. Since the snail was not placed in the direct flow medium excessive pressure loses were not observed as the turbulators placed in direct flow medium.
