Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of isotonic concentric exercises on coronary heart disease risk factors. 20 healthy volunteers were recruited for this study. 10 of them took part in the De Lorme exercise group, the second 10 in Oxford exercise group. Both groups were exercised daily for one hour for a period of 30 days. After the exercise period statistically significant decrease was only in plasma fibrinogen (p<0.05) in Oxford group. Among the other parameters checked the serum-glucose was a little high in Oxford group but it was not statistically significant (p=0.059). The result of the study showed that De Lorme and Ox¬ford exercises didn't change the levels of serum lipid and lipoprotein. And we concluded that these exercise tech¬niques has not got a considerable effect on coronary risk factors except fibrinogen.
