Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between spinal mobility, physical performance and disability in chronic low back pain patients. Spinal mobility was evaluated with modified Schober test, finger up-floor distance in forward flexion and lateral flexion. For physical performance abdominal and back muscle strength, endurance of abdominal and back muscles and Progressive Isoinertial Lifting Evaluation (PILE) test were evaluated. Oswestry Disability Questionnaire (ODQ) was used for disability assessment. Among these parameters only PİLE test had correlated negatively with ODQ (p<0.05, r:-0.50). Endurance of the abdominal muscles correlated with endurance of the back muscles (p<0.05, r:0.58). Also age of the patients were found to be correlated with abdominal muscle strength (p<0.05, r:-0.46); modified Schober test(p<0.05, r:-0.36) and PİLE test (p<0.05, r:-0.38) it can be concluded that for disability assessment of chronic low back pain patients PİLE test is more acceptable than other physical performance and spinal mobility tests.
