Özet

Bu makalenin amacı, polis meslek yüksekokulundaki polis memuru adaylarının kişisel tercih ve gereksinimlerini belirlemek ve mezun olduktan sonra daha yüksek verim elde edilecek görevlere yönlendirilebilmesi için öneriler geliştirmektir. Çalışmada, Edwards Kişisel Tercih Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini 2005-2006 öğretim yılında İstanbul Adile Sadullah Mermerci Polis Meslek Yüksekokulunda eğitim gören 18-23 yaşları arasında 211’i kadın, 860’ı erkek olmak üzere toplam 1071 polis meslek yüksekokulu öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin Edwards Kişisel Tercih Envanteri ile incelenen 15 ihtiyaç maddesine verdikleri cevaplara bakıldığında; en ağırlıklı olarak bildirilen gereksinimlerin “Yakınlık” (%15,80), “Baskınlık” (%15,60) ve “Dayanıklılık” (%15,12) olduğu; en düşük olanın ise “Uyarlık (Riayet)” ihtiyacı (%12,15) olduğu görülmektedir.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the personal preferences and necessities of the police cadets in Police Vocational High Schools and to provide suggestions in order to increase effciency in their jobs after their graduation. In this study, Edwards Personal Preference Inventory is used. The sample of the study consists of total 1071 police vocational high school students; 211 female, 860 male, between the ages of 18-23 years old from Istanbul Adile Sadullah Mermerci Police Vocational High School in 2005-2006 academic year. When we examine the answers of the students participated in this study for 15 necessary articles examined by the Edwards Personal Preference Inventory; it was observed that the predominantly necesssities are “Affinity” (15,80%), “Domination” (15,60%) and “Durability” (15,12%); and the least necessity is “Conformity (Respect)” necessity (12,15%).
